Live Scrap Rates in Sahiwal

Sahiwal, a mid-sized Punjab city historically linked to dairy farming and cotton production, has recently seen industrial diversification through the Sahiwal Coal Power Plant and new manufacturing enterprises along the Lahore–Multan motorway corridor. The 1,320 MW coal plant's maintenance cycles release specialised alloy-steel scrap, while the agricultural hinterland contributes machinery parts and irrigation-equipment waste. Dairy-processing units, including a major Nestlé facility, add food-grade stainless steel to the local scrap profile.

Power-plant alloy steel, when available, fetches PKR 115–140/kg—well above standard mild-steel rates. Dairy-equipment stainless steel trades at PKR 170–210/kg owing to its food-grade 304 composition. General mild-steel scrap from agricultural implements averages PKR 85–102/kg, and copper from rural transformer replacements commands PKR 1,750–2,000/kg. Tyre-wire steel recovered from the city's retreading shops forms a low-value but consistent segment at PKR 45–60/kg.

Agricultural-equipment dealers liquidating old stock should approach Sahiwal's motorway-adjacent scrap yards, which benefit from lower outbound transport costs and consequently offer better buying rates. Separating stainless steel from mild steel is crucial in this market, as mixed ferrous lots are priced at the lower mild-steel rate regardless of stainless content. For power-plant-origin material, ensuring that lot documentation specifies the alloy grade enables dealers to match the scrap with appropriate end-consumers willing to pay the premium.
