Live Scrap Rates in Hub

Hub, located on the Balochistan-Sindh border just west of Karachi, is defined by the Hub Industrial and Trading Estate (HITE) and the Hub Power Company (HUBCO) thermal-power plant—two facilities that make this small city a disproportionately large generator of industrial scrap. HITE's mix of steel fabrication, food processing, chemical manufacturing, and automobile-parts production ensures diverse scrap output year-round. The proximity to Karachi's massive recycling infrastructure means that Hub's scrap market is tightly linked to Sindh's price dynamics.

Steel-fabrication offcuts and plate scrap from HITE factories trade at PKR 95–115/kg, nearly matching Karachi rates. Power-plant boiler tubes and heat-exchanger plates fetch PKR 105–125/kg for their alloy-steel grades. Copper from HUBCO's periodic maintenance outages commands PKR 1,850–2,100/kg, and aluminium from food-processing equipment averages PKR 440–520/kg. Chemical-plant stainless-steel reactor and piping scrap reaches PKR 165–210/kg.

Hub's industrial sellers benefit from negotiating with both local HITE-based dealers and Karachi's Shershah market operators, as the short distance between the two markets creates genuine pricing competition. Scheduling scrap sales to coincide with HUBCO's planned maintenance outages—when a surge of power-plant scrap enters the market—should be avoided if possible, as the temporary supply increase can depress prices. For chemical-plant scrap, decontamination certificates are increasingly required by Sindh environmental authorities and serve as a price-supporting document for the seller.
